Members jigfisherx Posted January 20, 2010 Members Posted January 20, 2010 Just wondering if any has put in at the hiway 82 ramp. It's a long drive with a boat if it's iced in. Shaker if you read this what's going on. I know we talked online last year when I was logged as spinfisherx....name change with new computer. Seems like we just missed connections on the river.
shaker Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Yep still alive and kick'n haven't been over that way for several weeks. Truman is froze over the entire lake all ramps were iced in as of yesterday. You could put in at the ramp at Warsaw and motor up to the slack water with most of that is froze probably be your best bet till things thaw out. I would guess that the Sac is open but there is a lot of water coming down the river and has been all winter. The fish are in the river somewhere but probably have lock jaw for a while, if you did find them it would be hard to get a bite. I'm going to wait a couple weeks and hope to get a nice warming spell with some sunshine and give it a go. We've had a rough winter and hope maybe things will turn around a bit and get a decent break on the weather for a change. I don't know if you have ever fished below Truman dam but you can catch some pretty good whites, hybrids, crappie, and there is some walleye there too.
back2roots Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Just moved back to Harrisonville.....need to re-learn Truman. Looking forward to meeting some folks around here. Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
shaker Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Welcome back I live just up the road in Pleasant Hill.
back2roots Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Thank you Shaker! Good to be back. If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
Members jigfisherx Posted January 22, 2010 Author Members Posted January 22, 2010 Thanks Shaker.....I know it' been cold, but I want to go soooooo bad. Seems you and I both fish the same places watch form me and say hi. If you come to the dam at Truman watch for a dark red F150 supercrew with a camper on back.
shaker Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Sounds good probably seen you just didn't know you. Talked to a friend late yesterday that had been to Warsaw and drove over the dam and said that the slack water side had thrawed out looked like the Bledsoe ramp was useable with a couple of rigs in the parking lot. But after today it's suppose to get cold again so I'll wait till the next warming spell and give it a shot. If I can wait that long it's been a loooong winter already and it's only about half over? When I go I give you a shout as to what I'm driving and when I'll be there.
Members saugeye Posted February 24, 2010 Members Posted February 24, 2010 put in last saturday at 82 boat ramp no ice but water temps were only about 38 deg. went up river a little past coon creek. only found one little bass on one of the bluffs & accidently snagged 20lb grass carp in one of the deeper holes. pretty good current but dont think they were running out of stockton that day. by looking on the bankline it had recently dropped about a foot. probably try it again in a couple weeks
shaker Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks for the report glad to see that someone was brave enough to give it a try. I keep saying a couple of weeks but maybe one of these days it'll start warming up.
