The recent mentioning of bass fishing in the Rockaway area his me wanting to ask some questions of those of you who bass fish taneycomo. With water remaing somewhat the same temperature year round on Taney what is the seasonal pattern for bass on Taneycomo? What are they foraging for and what baits are productive during the seasons or if there are no real seasons what works year round? I have heard in the past about fishing in inlets and near the bank and I have seen 70-75 degree water temps by Rockaway. Would reall like to put some focus on the bass this year mixing in with trout fishing. Any assistance is appreciated and I'm not really looking for someone to give away their secrets but just need a frame to work with.

I think the "best kept bass fishing secret in MO" wants to be kept a secret!

We'll just have to find out for ourselves.

I have fished a bass tourney in march at taney with some results. All the fish came out of the creeks like turkey, bull, roarke. I have caught a few LM at the Landing wall (start at the fish house) with senko's and jigs. As the creeks go I used a crankbait. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

1/4 ounce spinnerbait in some color of white is hard to beat year round during the warm summer months alot of fun to be had with buzzbaits and frogs over the big moss and grass patches in the bull creek and rockaway area. I dont know about the big secret of bass fishing on t como seems like the last few years have been down in size and numbers. a group of guys that stay at a resort that i frequint make it ther mission to clean 3 limits of bass a day during there stay and i dont think the population can take it but its legal so what do ya do but grit your teeth and go on

I know Bull Creek produces a bunch of bass - in fact, the most bass I've ever seen at one time were there.

On a couple of different trips scouting for suckers in the spring, I've seen BUNCHES of short bass up Bull Creek. I mean, like a thousand at a time. They were in 2' of clear water and they were spooky - I tried throwing a Roostertail to them, and they'd just scoot. The ones I saw were all about 13" long, but if the creek arm produces big bunches of bass like that there have to be a lot of them in the lake.

So far as catching larger bass, I've done good at times throwing a spinnerbait around the mouth of Bull Creek, especially around logs laying on shallow flats.

Ha. A few years back I was working the deeper side bank up Bull Creek, throwing a spinnerbait for bass and catching a few. Just below that marshy island where the creek takes a turn, I noticed fish making circles on the water behind me - out in the middle. They were good size fish from the commotion and the size of the circles, so I figured they had to be bass. I made a few casts out there with the spinnerbait - nothing.

Well, that was strange. If not bass, what could be working on top like that? Big bluegills, maybe? I tied on a jighead with a swimming minnow, and bang - big fish on. It was a rainbow trout - about 19" or 20"! I didn't expect that, but I caught three more, all big ones, before they quit. I never buy a trout license, so back they went. That was kinda fun.
