flyfishmaster Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 My cousin and I started fish the High Banks area is Z2 around 11:45. The water was up (I'm guessing 6-8") with a clarity of about a foot and the current was strong. So as you can guess the objective of the day was go deep and use a lot of weight. We nymph fished the entire time using many pattern from our fly boxes (I did say many right?). We did catch enough fish to keep it interesting, but we were contently changing flies because there was not one fly that stood out on both of the days. On Saturday afternoon, we ventured down to Z3 and land a few fish as well. We finished the day on the Niangia (can't spell) after the whistle below. But we were not able to bring anything to hand there. On Sunday we got to the park around 8:30 and fished Z1 below and rock falls. My cousin found a spot and it was hot. I thing he land 10 fish on 15 cast and the other casted he missed fish. I fishing all around him for about 30 minutes and I could only managed to find 2 takers. He had to change out his taper leader so I stood in his spot. And yes it was the hot spot because I was able to land 9 fish in less about a 30 minute time span. But nothing of any size, 16" was the max. At lunch time we took off and hit Maramac Spring on the way home see the other forum for that fishing report. So over all it was a great 2 days, we landed fish in some some rough water, it was great to see all the snow and the "Blue Bird" clean skies were incredible. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Paola Cat Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Fished BSSP 2/1. Yep, it's up and off color. Had to change a lot too. White thread jig, buggers, cracklebacks, and eggs. Nothing in Zone 3. Some black caddis coming off this afternoon. Lots of weight .... most of the action was at high bank and above the dam in Zone 1 and near the spring. PC Cheers. PC

The water was very off color and was very heavy. I learned a lot about fishing the parks on the fly today and PC is a heck of a teacher. Andy
DoveTail Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Sounds like hard fishing conditions with faster water and off color. Glad you were able to hook some up.
