Ok, I was on here a while back asking about finley river. I am in the process of getting a kayak and the linden bridge and falls are just right up from my house. Someone said don't leave your vehicle down there on the post, is it safe to leave your car there while you take the kayak out for a few hour?? are there any access points above the falls? is it worth going above the falls or is the best fishing between linden and the park? I am wanting to learn this river this year, and just want to know what to look out for. also how swift is the river when flow is normal? i was wondering if a person could float down a ways then paddle back to the truck. That is why i was wondering if you could get above the falls, so I could paddle up river first and float back. I am in Sparta, do you guys know of any other rivers close that would be good kayak fishing?

I am also wanting to do some floating on the swan creek. It looks awesome when I was down there a few weeks ago. I think it would be fun before the levels drop.

The easiest (and most likely to injure you) way to access Linden Lake is climb up the front of the dam with your boat. I'm not kidding. I had access on the Lake from one of the folks who lived up there, but they moved, and I'm out of luck on that now. Floating from Linden to the park in Ozark is a super easy float, but during warmer weather I wouldn't leave my truck up there (lots of drunken "partiers"), but others do and don't have any problem. It's just easier for me to leave my truck at the ramp in the Ozark Park, then get dropped off with my canoe up there, then float back. Some of the best fishing (and some nice views) are in the Linden to Ozark stretch anyway. A little busy in Summer, but most folks don't fish very seriously, so you can still catch them.

As far as floating down and paddlin back up, in low water it would be possible, but it would be a real grind to do if the water was flowing.

Other rivers? Beaver and Swan are just off to your east, and Bull Creek is just to your Southwest. A good combination is the DeLorme Atlas and Gazeteer of Missouri DeLorme Atlass and Gazeteer (you can usually pick these up at Wally Word or any book store) and then GoogleEarth. Great tools for finding access points.

so if a person was going through the week at daybreak, should be fine huh. hows the fishing above the dam?? looks pretty good

Swan and Bull are heavily dependent on rain, but Beaver holds up pretty well. Beaver also has more accesses it seems and you can go upstream from most of them, again depending on rainfall.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I've left my truck there plenty of times, and never had anything happen. I wouldn't leave anything of value in it. Fishing above the dam is some of the best in the ozarks. Ive caught plenty of fish over three pounds. Both smallies and largemouth, When they were spawing I seen two fish that were probably over seven, maybe even bigger than eight or nine. Also that time of year my brother caught one over six. Catch and Release and everyone can enjoy it!!!

Has anyone been hassled by the locals for being up there? My landlord said he used to go down there and the locals wouldn't be so nice about him using what they thought was their private pond.

That is kinda what I have heard. I heard they would mess with your vehicle and really heckle you if you were in front of their place. Oh well, guess I'll just utilize my conceal and carry permit and if I get shot at I'll take cover haha. I am just trying to find a good access point. I know there is a road to the east of the lake that you get too off 125 that crosses it again, I wonder if it would be a good place to go so it isn't right in their back yard.

Ive never had anything happen to my truck there like I said. But I have had a run in with a nasty old lady and old man that said that all bass fisherman do is catch the fish and after they release them they DIE! lol I explained that these fish do not die suddenly after being hooked in the mouth. But thats not what they were hearing. After "heckling" me somemore I told them to deal with it. They are the ones who chose to live on a public river... After I caught about two fish right out from under there dock and several more still with them still in sight,

They were furious. No one has ever been murderd for fishing on Linden  ... nothing to worry about. Hold your ground you have just as much right to be there as they do. BTW this is not the first time I have had a run in with someone like these people at the lake. One time at lake of the ozarks I ran into a crazy lady who thought that every fish living under her dock were her pets, she had names for them, fed them. She went phsyco from her deck when I was throwing them in the livewell for weigh-in in a tournament.

Oh and your for access to Linden goes, your only hope is to climb the spillway. Its simple just throw your boat up first and climb away. Just don't try to do it in a flood. Also the right corner is the spot to do it, its like a foot deep when you get up top. Plus you feel cool like STALONE in Cliffhanger
