Members BiggBassMorris Posted March 11, 2010 Members Posted March 11, 2010 From what I can tell, there has been a cold front that moved in yesterday afternoon and looks like it will be here over the weekend. I am fihsing in the AFT Bass Tournament Saturday and the weather predicts early morning showers. What are the best baits to be used right now on this lake? Where are some of the better places to fish? Your help will be greatly appreciated! God Bless! Austin
Members jthomas Posted March 12, 2010 Members Posted March 12, 2010 It's not a typical bass bait but we caught 20+ bass last weekend throwing a little 2", chartreuse twirly tail jig. All of our bass came in shallow water – the boat was in 8-12’ and just throwing up to the banks.

I'll probably be throwing some jigs, suspending jerkbaits, and some zipper spiders(similar to the hula grub). And for those fishing Saturday, I'm just a young cat so take it easy on me lol. Good luck to everyone who is fihsing and God Bless you with safe travels and tight lines!
shockley32 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Stickbaits and Grubs - you'll be in business. Good luck and let us know how you do. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?

Walcrabass Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Just wondering what the results of the "AFT" Tournament were for Saturday. Our fishing wasn't that good. We might have had one bite...not for sure. If you caught a bunch we're going to go into depression.

We might have had one bite...not for sure. If you caught a bunch we're going to go into depression. I caught myself 16 but only one kept. I had a keeper on and went to boat him but he came off my jig(probably 15.5 or 16 inches) and I lost about a 4.5 pounder because my hook on my jig got bent while being pulled through the rocks and I couldn't get the hook set. The winning bag was 13.3 i believe. Biggest bass was 5.01. I caught my first one in about 17 feet of water and it was 4.70. We went way back into the Little Sac and found some 51 degree water and they were eatin it up. We were fishing 6 inches to 10 feet in there and they would hit it at anytime, however most of our bites came in the 1-2 foot range. Unfortuantely, me and the guy who was the boater only caught 3 keepers out of 30 fish and we missed/lost 8-11 more. We found em, just not the big ones. Sorry to hear about your day, but it defintely seemed like they were shying away from the wood and were hugging larger rocks, ledges and points but I think we pulled two outta the brush. Also, everything my boater and I caught was on a peanut butter and jelly football jig. I was throwing 3/4 and 1/2 and he was throwing a 3/8. It was a great day minus the weather and the fact we just didn't find the big ones.

Walcrabass Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Were you hopping, crawling, jigging, or swimming the jigs. Just guessing from the size your jigs and the water depth fished you were swimming or crawling.
Members BiggBassMorris Posted March 16, 2010 Author Members Posted March 16, 2010 For the most part I was crawling them but it was a hop hop sink hop hop type action. they were so shallow that as soon as it started falling whether it was on the cast or retrieve they would smoke it. But my first one was caught in 17 feet doing the same action i just let it hit the bottom on the cast then would retreive it with a hop hop sink action but never letting it hit the bottom as they were suspended at about 12-13 foot on the main lake.
