Members FISHIN 4 FUN Posted March 13, 2010 Members Posted March 13, 2010 Anyone ever try using the big A C plugs for stripers on Norfork? I know they are expensive but they do catch some BIG FISH on them out west. They have some good looking shad patterns.
Members vision2 Posted March 14, 2010 Members Posted March 14, 2010 Hello Fish 4 Fun, The AC Plug is a great striper catching lure and is one of my favorites. I have used it extensively to catch trophy stripers in the Colorado River below Hoover Dam to Cottonwood Cove to Davis Dam and Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I've tried the lure several times on Lake Norfork without success both casting and trolling. Lake Norfork is a uniquely different body of water for stripers. It's a finesse lake using real light weight gear and can be a tough bite. Recently I gave a talk on the lure to the Lake Norfork Striper Club. Because the AC Plug could cost $40 or more at the wrong store I started building my own creations. It was great fun a few years ago. I still think the plug would work in Bull Shoals and the tailwaters of Lake Norfork right about NOW as the HUGE STRIPERS make their false spawing runs. However anglers are throwing x-large swimbaits like King Kong. Striper anglers at Lake Norfork are casting rogues at night and early morning and live bait the rest of the time. Don't give up on the AC PLUG. Good luck, VISION 2
