Hotdawg Guide Service Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 The weather is just about as bad at this time of year as I can remember in my 35 years of guiding! This week we had extremely high winds with lake advisories and then two days of warm followed by now two days and nights of COLD rain and even some intermittent SNOW. I found 51 degree water Saturday morning and caught 9 fish on soft plastic (Hula grubs, and critter craws.) And had two more on wiggle wart crankbaits. About 4 oclock the rain started and hasn't let up since. The air temp has been from 30-36 degrees during all this rain so as bad as I hate to say it I feel the lake temp will plummett in the next day or so back to 38-40 degrees probably. They had a foot of snow in western Arkansas and this will be running into the lake for a couple of days at least. All my fish came half way back in the creek arms holding the boat in 20-25 feet of water with most bites in the 5 -15 foot range. Fish your bait slow and if you miss a bite throw back in and let it sit at the same spot and usually you can catch it on the second bite. Green pumpkin has been my best color on all my soft plastics. The weather has got to stay above 50 at night and warm up to the 60-70 degree range before we see any consistent patterns forming. GOD Bless and Good luck Hotdawg! Hot Dawg Guide Service
