Hey Brian. Go to " Get Directions" and type in your address, this should show you a map to the Undercliff. I'm not sure, but you might be able to talk to the owners about a day pass to fish the property. You'll just have to call them or go in and ask. This week is probably shot with the water the way it is, but it should clear up sometime soon.

I usually fish mainly jigs and spinnerbaits, and haven't seen any topwater yet. It should heat up pretty soon if the rain doesn't hit us like it has in the last few years. There are some good places around the campground that hold fish if you can get in there. I saw a couple of guys fishing there a couple of weeks ago.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

It's still a little early yet for some top water action. But it is not far off. If you have any access to some ponds, try them first. The water will warm much quicker than in the creeks and rivers thus the use of poppers and other top water baits will be productive earlier in the season.

I would say it will be sometime in April before top water would be productive in ponds and not until May before you should try in on creeks and rivers. But that doesn't mean you won't catch an occasional fish on them earlier than that. This is just a kind of guide line for you.

I love your enthusiasm and thirst for information on fishing. It is really great to see a young person like yourself spending time and asking questions here on a forum of this nature. If your parents will allow it, here in a few weeks when the fishing is a little better, my son Dylan who is 11, and Buzz, and I would love to take you on float trip.

When fly fishing creeks early in the year, try some bigger BH woolly buggers. Throw them in olive or brown and let them drift through the pools and twitch them back upstream to you. Let them swing through riffles into the head of the pools and swim them around structure. You will get hit. Also, you can fish pools that are open to the afternoon sun and get some action from bass and sunfish.
