Members Brent Posted April 5, 2010 Members Posted April 5, 2010 Well I got out the fly rod today and figured I'd go see what the Ponds looked like. I didn't see much of any spawning activity but the greens and gills are starting to move out of the depths into shallower water. I manage to land quite a few along with a couple that were decent size on a lightly weighted Mohair. All and all I had a great time and got a chance to try out the new camera on these two Greenies!! Gotta love spring!
Chief Grey Bear Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Sounds like you had a great time. Of course anytime fishing in the Ozarks is a great time! Those two in your pics are actually Bluegill. Possibly of the hybrid varitity. Sometimes it can be hard to tell between Bluegill and the hybrid depending on the environment they come from. Great fish none the less. mhall02 Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Yep, they are hybrids (bluegill/green sunfish). Nice!! They are great fighters!
Kayser Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Nice Hybrids. Haven't caught one in a while, maybe I haven't been fishing enough... WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Members Brent Posted April 7, 2010 Author Members Posted April 7, 2010 Thanks for the comments guys! When it comes down to it, catching these little beauties on a fly rod is probably my favorite kind of fishing!
