I am looking to go fishing at High Point or Aldrich on Thursday. I will be trying my sorry hand at Crappie or Bass. Does anyone have any suggestions or pointers for a guy that is not very skilled. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure about Crappie yet, but I have had several friends say that the white bass bite is on like crazy between the old steel bridge and taylor bridge. If you put in at Aldrich depending on how big your boat is your should be able to get in there with the high water. I took a 14 ft vhull in with no problem. If not we always have luck fishing main lake brush structure between high point and the bona bridge. Hope this helps!

I'm fixin to head there this morning.. I did pretty well last Friday, a few smaller whites up the river but flipped over 20 bass out of shoreline buckbrush in 61 degree water... I'll let you know tonight how it went.

Is this fun or what!

Put in at Aldrich around 6:45 this morning and before I headed up river chasin whites I hit a some buckbrush for an hour and a half. Caught 10 or so but they were all little buck bass. 64 degrees near the ramp but it got to 69.7 in some sun warmed back waters. Did a lot of trolling with rooster tails starting before the first bridge and going past the second. Caught 15 or so but only kept 4 as most were really small males. Saw tons of bigger fish on the graph in the bottom half of the water column and tried to jig some up but to no avail... Should have had some minnows, who knows. I did catch several crappie also but they were running small too. Just 3 measured. Really nice day though and can't wait to try it again!

Good lake conditions report Bill, I hope this cold front, doesn't change the pattern! B)

May day started out with my partner calling and cancelling on me first thing, and things went down hill from there. I fished from 7:30 to 10:00 and never got a bite. The water was pretty murky and the water temp was at 56. I would say I just need more practice. Thanks for all the advise guys. I forgot to say that I put in at High Point and stayed fairly close to that area.
