Well, it's been too long since I've fished the Lower Illinois. I plan on going Saturday, if the weather and water cooperate. Maybe I'll see some of you guys down there.

If I wasn't in the middle of moving this weeknd, I'd love to join you. My uncle went down there yesterday and caught one that he said went 3-4 lbs. That's a nice size for the lower Illinois! He caught it off a red midge. Best of luck to you, hope they hold off on generation!

Well, even thought it rained a couple of times, it was still a wonderful day on the river. I met a few nice people and caught lots of fish. I lost track of the number of fish that I caught. I know I caught more than 50 fish. It was just silly. At times, I was catching fish on every drift. All the fish that I caught were caught on a BobWhite 1/80th, Hair&Copper #14 or BeadHead Pheasant Tail Nymph #16. Most of the fish were the standard stocker size. However, I caught 4 different fish that were in the 2 lb range. All in All, it was a good day.

Sorry, No Pictures. I was there by myself and I didn't feel like dragging them up on the bank to take pictures.

Where did you catch this multitude of fish? Im looking to try my luck at the lower Illinois or make my way to the roaring, depending on the weather and generation. Also, what materials will I need for tying the bob white?

I caught all of them right smack dab in the mouth. :) hahah JK.

I caught them all over the river. I started out at the first turn off on the power site road on the other side of the island. Then I worked my way up to the Kiddie Pool in front of the island. Then I fished the fast shallow water in front of the pool. Then I fished the slow deep water about 100 yards in front of the island on the other side of the river. After taking a break for a late lunch, I went to the Watts area and worked my way downstream to the bend in the river. Just look for where the fish are stacked up and feeding.

3. Wind thread to middle of hook shank, tie in the dental floss and wind back to hook point.

4. Wind thread all the way back to the head and put a half hitch on it.

6. Wind the Dental Floss to the head in over lapping turns, working back and forth to build a tapered body.
