Nortrad Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 As reported before, a solid day Sunday with slightly cloudy river that was a bit up. Caught numerous stockers, a few hold overs and a 'bow and brown both at 16". Another highlight from the trip was seeing predatory behavior by two browns and two smallies. First one in Upper Tan Vat heading up into the boulders. Cast across and hooked a little 10" stocker bow. Stripped him back across and a 20" brown appeared out of nowhere to chase/circle the bow. Of course I lead the poor stocker around a bit, trying to get the brown to hit it. He didn't. Then, later that day downstream from Baptist, another 18" or so brown tried frantically to chomp a sculpin in front of me in the gravel. I put on a Slump Buster, but couldn't get anyone to commit. Then, farther downstream, changing flies, a big, ugly smallie almost nailed a sculpin in front of me, swimming almost into my leg. Kinda startling because of the cloudy water, and big, dark, fat fish, not a trout. These pics aren't that great but enjoy. Scuds, PT's, my own caddis pupae/larva ties, and my hot fly as of late, hate to give this up , a Rainbow Warrior variation of mine. Great river...can't wait to come back in a few weeks.
Members jdixon Posted May 2, 2010 Members Posted May 2, 2010 how do you like your ghost net? I think I am going to get one.
Nortrad Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 It's actually a BPS net, not sure what brand, not White River. Not as pricey as a Ghost Net. It's a little heavy for my holder/magnet. Probably have to get a stronger one. I got tired of using my old mesh net and getting flies caught in it.
Members jdixon Posted May 2, 2010 Members Posted May 2, 2010 they are pricey I think I might buy a replacment ghost net ($25 or so) and restring it on my old net, save some $$$. I hope it is as easy as it sounds.
