troutfiend1985 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 They really suck. I'm 24 and have never seen a playoff game. It almost May, and we're already out of the playoff race. So, the only thing to look forward to is September call ups and the trade deadline. I don't expect too many people to respond to this forum, but who would you like to see the Royals trade? I would have put up Meche but I don't think he has any trade value especially with his price tag. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
KCRIVERRAT Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I'll respond for ya... number one, David Glass, our owner, sucks. Won't spend any of his Wal-Mart money for some pitching. Mainly the bullpen which is horrific. GM Dayton Moore is a pawn. He was fetchin' coffee for John Shuerholz in Atlanta for years before he came here. Remember our good years we had Shuerholz as our GM. Also remember we had good players then, and Ewing Kauffman was alive. Glass is not a baseball man, he's a businessman. You've got to spend money to win in sports now and you've got to have an owner who cares. We don't have that in KC. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS

So, and I am no expert in baseball, it tells me that a good drafting/smart trading can bring success. Moore brings none of these qualities. Look at Nunez for Jacobs, J.P. Howell for Gathright, the reliever (I can't think of his name right now) for Crisp. I know that every trade brings risk, but none of these players are even on our team. Worst yet, we have Aviles in Omaha, and he was ripping the cover off the ball in spring training, play him at second if his arm is weak. Hillman needs to go, can't manage a bullpen, and I'm not faulting him for this season, the last two years have proven this. How the heck can you pitch Meche for 130+ pitches? The only thing that has improved is our farm system, we are ranked 16 in most ratings for what its worth. One of these days, at least I hope, the Royals will make the playoffs. I still go to 10-15 games a year and enjoy watching baseball. Maybe Glass will open his pockets one day, or better yet MLB will set a league minimum and a salary cap. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
Paola Cat Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 The Royals have a completely out of touch owner that's just in it for the profit. A minor league system that was decimated by mis-management and incompetence. They have missed on most of their draft choices. Invested tons in players like Gordon (worthless). It will take a long time to re-build. They have a manager that manages by the book (like they're a championship team). They need to think more "out of the box" with the players they have. Earlier in the week they actually sat DeJesus out for a game because they said he had been on base too much and was tired. The team has a losing mentality and it doesn't take long for it to rub off on any newcomer. They say they're going to stress fundamentals, defense, and speed. I don't see it. Last night they hold Bloomquist on third but 1 out later they send Guillen and he gets thrown out at the plate by 20 feet. Their middle relief is pathetic. They will not use Soria for any more than 4 outs. I'm a long time Royals fan and watch or listen to almost every game. They will be fortunate if they win 62 games this year. PC Cheers. PC
Randall Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 You boys are a little nicer than most of my buddies. I've kinda become a Royals fan, but it seems like the point of the games I go to is the parking lot before the first pitch. Oh well, I can't wait to go see the Cardinals for next to nothing this year. Cute animals taste better.
drew03cmc Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Royals baseball...what a subject. Hillman is finally gone, Ned Yost is the new guinea pig. I think that if they get him some talent, he will be fine. Money does not equate with winning in the MLB though. The team concept is gone from most of these teams, but the teams that have it are playing very, very well. San Diego has a payroll of HALF of what the Royals do and they are in first place in their division. The Rays payroll is equal to the Royals, give or take a few bucks, and they have the best record in baseball again. The Royals need to package up everyone but Greinke and trade for middle relievers. You can win with shitty offense, but are destined to lose with shitty pitching. I like Callaspo and Butler, but if we can get a middle reliever for one of them, the deal is done. If someone wants Greinke, depending on what we could get for him, I would be open to listening. Andy
stlfisher Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 As a Cards fan I feel sorry for Royals fans. The owner is incompetant and the team has not been competive for years. You can add the Pirates to that list as well.
