flytyer57 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Has anyone out here ever fished Lake Atalanta in Rogers, AR? I've been out there a few times and caught small bass and a stocker rainbow fishing from shore. I know it gets pounded by the locals. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there are some decent fish in this lake, or is it just a put and take fishery? What are the regs on putting in my own kayak to fish from? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Zack Hoyt Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Lake Atalanta is a no wake lake. I imagine besides some odd looks from people, kayaking and fishing shouldn't be a problem. I think the tackle shop there rents canoes anyhow. The winter trout stocking doesn't help the bass population a while lot. Once upon a time there were some great large mouth in there, but they have long since been fished out by the locals. There is alot of planning going on right now to revitalize the area and get the fishery back up to par. In fact the AGFC is looking into removing it from the winter stocking to help the bass population. Fished it with Flip Putthoff from the Rogers Paper and had very little luck. Definately curious if you have any more luck than we did. It isnt far from the house. I need to get out there and explore it a little closer. See my post at "Beaver Lake" about being at Atalanta Sunday nite. I hope I can get out there. I usually like to fish near the bridge.
