Members James Lee
I'm planning on heading down to Jasper with the wife and kids and thought I might try to get a little fishing in.I don't have a boat and I'd have my 3 year old son with me,so I'll need to find a spot to fish from the bank.Any advice on where to go that'll be fun for the family. Zack Hoyt
Jasper is pretty centrally located, so there are plenty of places. How far are you wanting to drive and which way will you be coming into Jasper from? If you are coming in from Harrison, you will pass Ozark, and Pruitt offer easy bank fishing. If you feel like a great drive, head towards Ponca and you will pass Kyles Landing, Steel Creek, and then cross the bridge at Ponca. Have a great time. The Buffalo this time of year is awesome. Zack Hoyt
I would stop by Ozark or Pruitt. You will be driving right past them, so you wont have to search very hard. Water is fairly low on the uppersection right now, so canoe traffic will be non-existant. Stop in at the Minnenite bakery in Harrison for some of the best homemade goodies around. flytyer57
I'll check out Pruitt and the little buffalo along the edge of town.Thanks. I fished Pruitt several times last fall/winter and cannot complain about the fishing. Try to stay above Mill Creek if you're wading. Last winter it was announced that there was some major polution in the way of human feces coming from a broken pumping station up at Marble Falls. I don't know if they got it fixed yet. Check with the ranger station there on the south side of the Hwy 7 brdge. I fished off the landing on the north end of the bridge. That road down to the landing can be a pain in the posterior end too. Kind of narrow for 2 way traffic. And don't wander too far from the vehicle. There's been break-ins in the past. They have signs warning about vehicle damage and such at the parking area. I fished the area from the parking area down to Mill Creek. Caught several nice bass in the 14" range and a lot of smaller ones. Lot's of luck, and post your results. I'd like to hear how it's fishing now. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
