Zack Hoyt Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Floated from Banes Farm(private access) to Hwy 62 bridge last Saturday. water was at about 3.4ft, which is a good level fro floating. Only had to get out of the drift boat three times to drag. Males were fairly active, but females were very lathargic and holding tight to the beds. Lots of bait fish in the water and a good number of gar. Drifted over one gar that had to go about 6'. He was almost as long as my oars. Used a motoroil colored jig 2.5" length. Anything larger and they would spook. Saw lots of roe and was able to approach a few nests from the bank and see the hatchlings. Was odd seeing different stages of the spawn in one stretch of river. All in all a good day. Not alot of size, but plenty of color. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
