Members Professor Jim Posted May 14, 2010 Members Posted May 14, 2010 I'm still trying to learn these flood control lakes and Stockton in particular. So, I'm wondering how to fish the rising water levels that we'll be facing early next week. My best guess is to throw the weedless/treeless Chompers jig into the shoreline bushes and around downed trees for largemouth. Is that a good strategy as the water comes up or am I missing something?
Hunter91 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 This time of year I usually throw topwaters shallow or spinnerbaits if you have rising water. That is just my preferences of course.
Members ckjacks Posted May 16, 2010 Members Posted May 16, 2010 Yes, typically I find that they move shallow when the waters rising. I like to throw reaction innovation beavers in the buck brush and also I like strike king's frogs. Then, as the water falls the little ones stay shallow and the big ones move out. Some people hate fishing high lake levels, I happen to love flipping when the lake is rising. I will be there monday with my 30lb line and broomstick looking for the big ones.
