rcguy Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Anyone going this weekend? I'm thinking of Sat. I don't think I've ever been on a Memorial Day weekend. Looks like there is a 60% chance of Thunderstorms the next few days. If they don't get too much rain it might be pretty fishable.

It was fishable last weekend so you should not have any problems unless it just pours again. The water was still quite stained yesterday, but I think it would clear up quite a bit by the weekend.
brittsnbirds Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 rc- Red San Juan worm with the gold tungsten bead in the middle of the hook. Bounce it off the bottom in slack water. Water was moving pretty fast. Try to stay out of the fast current and hit the pockets. Just below the spring in the middle the water is slower it is flowing real fast on the east bank. Also crawl a black wooly with sink tip line over towards the west side of the spring in the slower water as well. Good luck!! Pat
NoLuck Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 OK don't tell anybody my secret top fly to use when high water is at Bennett OK. Flo Pink brassie... just make sure you sharpen the hook yourself. The hooks they use for them things are dull as all get up. You can thank me later...HAHAHA
rcguy Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 Thanks Rich! I have a room for Sat night at Sand Springs. I'll be down friday and sat in my little silver egg car (3 door yaris) Stop and say hi if any of you are down there.
rcguy Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 I'm here at Bennet at Sand Springs motel. Tough fishing today, I thought. Caught a very few on various stuff. Pink GB's, Hares ear nymph, Pink thread jig. Yesterday I caught 15 on the Pink thread jig fishing just above the whistle bridge. On was particularly nice. The stream is still a little high and a little murky. We'll see what tomorrow brings!
rcguy Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Back to work today. Sat was slow for me. Caught a 5 or 6 in the morning on a dark red midge up by the island. Caught a few in the fast water in the afternoon. Sunday was good. Caught 20 or so on a Zebra Midge sz 18 in the fast water below from 12 til noon and then headed home. By sunday the stream was looking pretty good. No Luck, I meet your friend Van up by the spring on sat night. He said he taught you everything you know

I just convinced him that fly fishing would be cheaper than racing. Boy did I snooker him ehhh??
