Members Firefish Posted May 24, 2010 Members Posted May 24, 2010 Anyone have any thoughts on the best part of the river for a one-day fly fishing float trip? We'll be there the second week of July, so I'm assuming they'll be flowing some water. We're going to try to get some wading time at BSD, Rim Shoals and the Norfork, but I figure a day of good-old leisurely floating would be fun for a change of pace. Thanks.
Members Yakfly Posted May 25, 2010 Members Posted May 25, 2010 My favorite stretch - Rim Shoals to Buffalo City. 9 miles. Includes Rim Shoals, confluence of Crooked Creek & White River, Shoestring Shoals, Ranchette, and then Buffalo Shoals. If they are running 4 units or more, I'd even go up further and put in at Cotter, would add 5 miles to the trip, and you add Roundhouse section and the Redbud Shoals section.
Zack Hoyt Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 My favorite stretch is Wildcat to Cotter. Lots of good fishing. Rocks, weed beds, good current. It is also wadable in alot of places up to two units. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
