Members sportshop Posted May 29, 2010 Members Posted May 29, 2010 fished below the dam friday afternoon, water running good no problem catching 2 limits of whites and a couple of hybrids mixed in several good crappie, interesting part of the day was the catfish i hooked on a 3 inch slider, 4 lb test on an ultra lite rod, an hour and a half later and a mile plus down river he beat me,didnt straighten the hook or break me off, just came unpinned.lotta fun anyway, sore arm the rest of the day.
Members Downhilljohnny Posted June 2, 2010 Members Posted June 2, 2010 I fished Friday morning below the dam and didn't do very well. We were fishing mainly the area where the slack water meets the channel just below the cable and threw jigs and small crankbaits. We only caught about ten fish in five hours. Would you mind sharing where you fished and what you were using?
Members sportshop Posted June 2, 2010 Author Members Posted June 2, 2010 fished again monday afternoon again with my wife, caught 18 but only fished a few hours, mainly eddies, wherever the water breaks from the flow, anything in the water usually creates some sort of change, one off my best spots didnt give up a bite, try down where the river turns back towards highway 65 past warsaw both sides. find the breaks good luck.
emjay Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Fishing has been excellent. Throw a slider or a 3" swimming minnow and you're golden. Limited out every trip.
Members sportshop Posted June 2, 2010 Author Members Posted June 2, 2010 emjay, the whites that you are catching do they still have eggs? most of what we have caught still do, about half of the crappie also.
Members Downhilljohnny Posted June 2, 2010 Members Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks for the info. We did try it downstream a mile or so in a couple of eddies but no luck. I don't get there very often but usually have some success when they are running water, so was surprised when we didn't do too well on Friday.
emjay Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 emjay, the whites that you are catching do they still have eggs? most of what we have caught still do, about half of the crappie also. A few looked like they still had eggs but most looked to be spawned out or healthy males. The hybrids we caught were very nice (22"-24").
BrianS Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Do you guys catch any walleye up there? I really want to go up there one of these years and fish that HOOK 'EM HORNS
Members sportshop Posted June 4, 2010 Author Members Posted June 4, 2010 early in the spring, we have caught quite a few with pretty good size, dont think ive ever caught one later than end of april below the dam, out in the lake later on, jerk baits early in the spring, or sliders work pretty well.
slider Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Brian I was there last Thursday and saw 4 walleye caught. If they are running alot of water like they are right now you can catch walleye. I think sportshop is right before april is better but there are a few ther now also. DONT EVER GIVE UP MOSES WAS A BASKET CASE ONCE!
