ozark trout fisher Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I haven't been able to make it down in nearly two weeks, and I was wondering if there has been any terrestrial activity lately? I know it's a little early in the year for hopper fishing, but it has been pretty darn hot lately. I was thinking with the the water back to being normal and clear, it might be a good time to try a hopper dropper rig instead of the usual indicator set up.

XP 590 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Excellent, I'm heading down Friday and want to hear from both of you!
3wt Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Was down at montauk over the weekend: 0 hoppers to be found. Probably too early. Tried a stimulator/idropper setup, almost no interest in the big chicken of a fly. Later in summer when hoppers are out it usually gets some hits.
Idylwilde Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 The black ant #18 is the only I have had luck with so far. Also the Y's Neversink Trude Peacock #14 is starting to take some good Brown's below the park. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
