Late Report From May 30

Hit Tan Vat Sun. morning, May 30 fairly early to beat crowds of anglers that didn't materialize. Started with some streamers and got a long, crazy follow and a short strike by a nice 'bow. Switched over to normal 2 nymph rig under indicator and caught a beautiful 14" brown, jumped three times before landing. My fishing bud, the Jedi, once again out fished me, numerous feisty rainbows. Worked up the the boulders catching 3 'bows and missed a couple right above in the deep run. Took a short lunch break after walking to the parking area which was filling up with folks on the gravel and playing in the water. Smart move to walk downstream on the trail and work back. Fished the long, rock wall with a couple of boulders and had non-stop action, numerous fighting 'bows, 10-14". Made a super long drift with a rubber legs and small, shiny nymph below and this beautiful 18" brown smacked the rubber legs. Worked back with just a few fish. Solid day, off-color water was up. Fishing the PM hours later this week. Used scuds, PT's, shiny lightning bug type flies and rubber legs. Jedi used his normal flies that shall remain nameless, but extremely effective. I joined the bandwagon and have tied some to match his.
