Members crawfly Posted June 7, 2010 Members Posted June 7, 2010 My last outing on the James was a wk-day so the traffic was light. The first set of floaters, 2 rental canoes announced just up river of me they were coming by behind. I said, "Come ahead." "Are ya catchin' any fish?", was the inquiry. I said, "Yeah, I've caught a few." I think in an effort to impress his girlfriend, the kid asks me, "What kind of trout are ya catchin'?" I had to smile as I paused and replied, "Browns, I'm catchin' browns" "Right on", he says. Electric chicken was the top producer for the day followed by the fish skull river minner and a craw pattern I tie. The menu: Several of the satisfied customers Next up is some jack salmon on the Finley, mebbe. I dunno
smallmouthjoe Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Funny, story and great fish. What section were you floating?
Members crawfly Posted June 7, 2010 Author Members Posted June 7, 2010 The floating section would be between Shelvin Rock and Hootentown.

Members crawfly Posted June 7, 2010 Author Members Posted June 7, 2010 The river is in good floatable stage. You shouldn't have to drag at all if you don't want to. Good luck!
