J-Doc Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I hear this lake is good for spring crappie. Any fishing reports for this time of year? Last time I was there, the weeds/vegetation was brutal. I’m used to fishing Beaver Lake where there is no vegetation. Looks like I’m the first to post a thread in this forum. I know there are some anglers here that fish this little jewel. It’s too pretty to not fish it. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. Zack Hoyt Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Crappie are good. Fish along the edge of the vegetation. They are holding in the weeds and popping out after baits. Catfish are good in the deeper sections. Will try to get a more up to date report from a buddy. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions

I fished there once about 4yrs ago out of a jon boat and didn't know the lake. Found thick matted weeds all over the place and gave up. As I was landing the boat, a local fella told me that there used to be some trophy bass in the lake. I was curious if its still a bass fishing lake towards the deep water or if it's strictly a crappie/perch lake now. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Thats great! Were you fishing towards the dam? I wonder if it's too late for crappie fishing there now? Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. timsfly Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Yes towards the dam in the morning, I was catching the crappie about 1/2 way down on the east side of the lake, 8-15' of water, chartruse 1/64th ounce jigs. On my fly rod, and the bass were on clousers and woolybuggers. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Guest Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 If you can learn to fish the matted vegetaion, its worth it. I grew up fishing shallow grassy lakes, so it was easier for me to fish than Beaver. Go out there in late may and throw a horny toad in that salad bowl. You better have a heavy action rod, those bigguns are tough to winch out of the grass.
