I took the kayak below the dam from 10:30 to 12:30. I started out throwing a 3-inch bass pro sticko. I picked up a few dink largemouth and then switched over to a 1-inch grasshopper on a 1/16 jighead. I picked up a few sunfish, then bam big fish on (I was using a 5' 6" light rod). The fish is rising quickly ... then out into the air and on my sit-on-top kayak right between my legs. The fish then flips off and the fight continues. After landing the fish I snapped a quick picture with my phone and back to the water it went. Ended the day with a few more sunfish.

Do you ever have much luck very near the dam? I do not have a kayak and have not tried wading below the dam.

Also, where did you float to? or did you just paddle back?

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

I wade around there some, it's pretty hit and miss for me. I just floated down a little and then paddled back.

I went back today for around an hour (noonish). I took my waders and started throwing weightless plastics. It was nice not being hot in the breathables on the 4th. I picked up a quick 12 inch largemouth. I then switched to a grub with no takers. I went back to a bulkier weightless plastic and started casting as close to shore as possible. I made a cast that landed inches for the shore, twitched the rod tip once and an explosion.

I saw a guy pick up a few on a white walking topwater (both looked to be between 12 and 14 inches).
