Members GoodFisher Posted June 17, 2010 Members Posted June 17, 2010 Well, Tenkiller is only 7-inches above normal, the Arkansas is out of its banks, so we all know where the water is.....NOT moving out of the LIR. Looks like they are only runnin water for 3 hours in the evening... Now, I know you Trout fishermen are very happy when this happens, but I need a giant Striper fix..lol Oh well, those big Blues will have to do... Still excited to be getting on the river this weekend!

Let me know when the striper bite starts....

Talked to a Striper Guide down there today and he said they caught a few yesterday evening, when the water was running. I'll let you know how we do when we return Sunday night.
Members ColeM. Posted June 18, 2010 Members Posted June 18, 2010 If they are not running any water, the fish are spooky and I mean spooky! For us kayakers and wade fisherman, we need to catch the water falling or them only running 1 or 2 units. (For us kayakers) I saw lots and lots of fish last weekend, but they had lock jaw and I suggest from the bright sun and the low water. Oh and there is more shad in the river then I have ever seen before.

Camp host at Gore Landing said the Arkansas was backed way up into the LIR and the point at the boat launch there was under water... We are going to do some night fishing for Stripers, it seems to work better in these conditions, but who knows. The challenge of this river is the thing that attracks us most. Its always changing so you have to be on top of your game! Makes me excited just talking about it. Are you coming out this weekend?
Zach Bearden Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I saw a few up at the dam tonight as the water was falling. Only caught one about 14" tonight. Was still good to hook up with one though haha "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Members RatherBHuntinFishin Posted June 19, 2010 Members Posted June 19, 2010 My dad and I fished it Wed and Thursday. The AR was backed up all the way to Gore landing. Stripers were very slow and would only bite during the short time the water was running. There were 6 other boats Thursday evening and they weren't catching very many either. Maybe the big ones will start soon. Shad were very easy to find.
