OKFlyFisher44 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Looking to take a float trip on the Upper Illinois to chase smallmouth. I was curious where are some good places to put in and take out if you have your own canoe? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks... DaddyO Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Chance, Put in at the Chewey Bridge. Call the people at Riverside floats and ask if you can take out at their spot. They might even haul you up river and let you park at their facilities, for a fee. But that stretch from Chewey Bridge to Riverside used to be good producer for us. Call me if you want anymore info. OKFlyFisher44 Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 What county road is Chewey Bridge on? I'm looking at GoogleMaps but it doesn't label any of the bridges. Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
DaddyO Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Pull up Google Maps and see where highway 10 intersects 412. Follow hwy 10 south until you see the Chewey Road. That Road crosses the Illinois River. Where it crosses is the Chewey Bridge. If you stay on that road, it will take you to the small town of Chewey. Blink and you will miss it.
