Members Lunkers Only Posted June 22, 2010 Members Posted June 22, 2010 Hey Guys, I really want to fish Fellows lake at night for a few reasons, but mainly to beat the heat of the summer. What are my odds of success? Is it frowned upon? If so, is the lake frequently patrolled after dark? Who maintains the lake/who runs the security? Just a thought. Thanks for your opinion.
Fly_Guy Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 It is patrolled, but not frowned upon. I've seen the security fellow at 4 am, but there is nothing illegal against fishing all night. I've fished it after dark a few times, and you'll catch a ton of crappie - most small. Don't know about boats - I always have fished on the bridge.
MstStudent10 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 You are not allowed to fish from Fellows Lake at night. They close the Park (the area with the marina and ramp) every evening at Legal Sunset. The security guard is always there every night to make sure everyone is off and then locks up the gate behind him. If you are still on the lake come Sunset, they send the patrol boat with a siren out looking for you. Trust me I know. Got a little carried away catching crappie one evening this May and pushed it a little too far. They don't like that. Set the hook first, ask questions later...
MstStudent10 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 PS... I forgot to be specific... You cannot From a Boat. That is what I was referring to in my post. Shore fishing is alright as long as you're not in their guarded off areas. Set the hook first, ask questions later...
Members Dogtown65 Posted July 2, 2010 Members Posted July 2, 2010 Have snuck a two man plastic boat in at night. But so dark usually, need the light of day to keep out of the weeds or to fish in and around weeds. Would be a great night fishing lake. I would even pay $ extra to use at night. Securitas is their Security contractor, thought about even bribing them to let me get a shot at the night life there.
MstStudent10 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Haha, yeah I veered away from the "What they don't know don't hurt them" comments during my post, I don't want to promote doing anything illegal on a public forum. Growing up 10 miles away from Fellows all through high school, and even around during college, while having a 10 foot flatbottom, the thought may have crossed my mind once or twice. Set the hook first, ask questions later...

I was out there the other night around 3 am. There were a few other die hards out there as well. I talked to one guy who was walking the banks chunking a spinner. He caught a few short ones. The other fellers were either fishing or they were taste testers for the local brewery. I think the only thing biting for them was the skeeters. I caught 7 keeper size whites on a small rattle trap and some live shad that I was able to catch Nights are good, but you better take some Deep Woods Off with you out there. The mosquitos are thick. If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....
