Members jwpage Posted June 24, 2010 Members Posted June 24, 2010 Made it back from my trip to the Roaring River. It was a good trip, although I didn't catch but one trout. I didn't know that there was more to the river but the park until I was ready to leave. Good information for my next trip up there. Did stop by Tim's fly shop and it was like a kid in a candy store. Here is a pic of the only fish I caught. "The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope." John Buchan
Fly_Guy Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 A good ticket is to fish dries in the evening late an hour before last whistle - small dries like Adams, gnats and ants - also, when we were there last time, I had good success on a #14 brown scud 3 ft under a float - especially right at the start of the pools. Lastly, try floating a crackleback, and if they dont take it floating, strip it under the surface. Zone 2 and 3 are your tickets for flies tho - I was catching them well in zone 3 with the scud. I hear what you are saying - those trout in zone one can get really shellshocked after a few hours of spinners, worms, eggs, crankbaits and jigs hammering the water all around them.
