Fishing was excellent this weekend, they had what I would call a minimum flow going.Fish are getting some good size to them, only fish I caught that were stocker size were two browns at the watts area 6" and 10", one small striper on a #16 copper john. Did see some huge stripers but didn't break out the 8 wt. Met jwpage on Sunday he and I caught some nice fish as the water dropped out in the afternoon.

Hey Hopper! It was nice to meet you and great fishing with you. That fish I had on that was jumping and then spit my fly out? I had lost my reel in the river right when I got him and was trying to retrieve my reel but the fish was pulling my line out causing me to not be able to get my reel. Talk about a fishing story. Tight Lines!

The Watts area is about half wat between Marvel and the Dam, a small blue sign on the right hand side of the road. This is an area the wildlife dept. bought with the legacy money from license sales, 300 acres with river frontage.

Gregg, when I was fishing with you last Sunday, you were using a white fly as a strike indicator. How do you rig that so you don't have to break off and retie to change the depth?

I run a two fly rig under the indicator fly,tie 24-30" of 6x floro to the bend of the dry indicator tie on fly add 12-18' 6x to that add another fly. I dont seem to have to worry about depth much, in the riffles the water is moving fast enough to keep it off the bottom and in slower water your bottom fly is deep enough to draw fish off the bottom.

Thats a good point Hopper. I think its always better, if you can help it, to have the weight at the fly instead of adding split shot. What about the deeper pools? Have any problems reaching the fish with a small nymph without adding weight?
