Members Tearin Up Topwater Posted July 10, 2010 Members Posted July 10, 2010 Anyone ever try Fountain Lakes near 370 or Graus Lake way up 94? I tried Fountain Lakes a couple times with no luck yet. Maybe just picked bad days but a couple of the lakes look good, two of them may be too shallow and the small pond reminds me of a BW pond. Haven't seen a fish caught out there yet. Let me know if you did any good there.???
stlfisher Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I have fished the fountain lakes a couple times. I have caught a few bass each time and a couple nice ones. It can be difficult to fish and the access is not the best IMO. I have not caught any fish in the lake north of 370, but have done ok on the lake by the skate park. I have not caught any fish out of the small pond. I would like to take a canoe or kayak out on the two lakes that you just can't get to without standing in the weeds...they just have that look to them...but no watercraft or wading allowed...which pretty makes them impossible to get to. Not a bad looking area though.
Members Tearin Up Topwater Posted July 10, 2010 Author Members Posted July 10, 2010 The north lake in Fountain Lakes Park is a really big lake. It would help to have a boat to fish that lake as well. It took me quite a while to make my way around it with my gear. I tried a drop shot rig that I thought would surely produce. But not even a short. It didn't help that the heat index was 95 degrees that evening about two weeks ago. Maybe I'll stick to the south lake next time. I'm itching to get back to Busch as soon we get a "cooler" evening. Maybe a week night at 33, 35 or 31 for a little topwater action. Anyone else been out to there fishing lately?

I fish out there all the time....there is not a lake that I haven't fished. It get's pounded, but it is so conveniant that I just can't pass it up. I have a ball with my fly rod at the C/R lakes catching Bluegill and some small bass. I heard years ago 31 had some smallmouth in it, but they wouldn't spawn and the MDC just gave up. It kind of sounds like an urban legend to me though. I spend a lot of time at Busch and do ok number wise, but not much for size besides an occasional 4lb'er or so. 33 and 35 are the two lakes that I have spent the least time at...don't really know why as they both have some nice fish in them...too much walking for me I guess.
