Is it going to be crazy busy like the Niangua? Should I just plan to fish early and late? Also how is the water levels, a little low? What baits are working also? Thanks a bunch

Dude, "crazy" doesn't even come close. It has to be the worst place to try and fish in the summer on the weekends. If you must, be there at sun up and fish the downstream sections until the aluminum shows up. Then pack it up and don't return until the last couple hours before sunset. By that time, the section below the trout park should be good. There are many other options that aren't as freaking nuts within an hour of Steeleville if you're looking for more solitude.

Here's the river gauge:

I don't live very far from Meremac Springs, about 12 miles, and I was at the Rt. 8 bridge a week ago Saturday, on the river at daylight, and by 7:30 AM there was floaters on the water. St. Louis moves to the Ozarks on summer weekends. Go early or you'll be casting over and dodging canoes. Late can be good too. Essentially what Terrapin said. On very rare occasions I've been known to stand in the middle of a shallow riffle and make them go around me. Hey, I was there first.....hehehe.

The upper Meremac, above the Rt. 8 bridge, is rarely floated by the outfitters and there are several low water crossings where you can access the creek. This is the begining of the peak of the season so be ready to be inundated. Get a Delorme Atlas for Missouri and a Crawford County map and in conjunction they will lead you to some good water.

The Courtouis and Huzzah will be the same.

I'd rather live my entire life, living as if there is a God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there isn't, than to live my entire life as if there is no God and Jesus and to find out at the end that there is.

Thanks for the report. I planned on fishing during at night and early in the morning and just enjoying the float during the day. Hopefully we can pull some fish out of the river.
