Coldspring Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I quit believing in magical powers a while back and don't wish to discuss that topic in much depth, but do you really believe in Fishing Almanacs? Obviously, the lunar cycle, seasons, weather, water temps, water characteristics, are real and have an effect, but do you think certain "signs" really have an influence on fish behavior? Maybe I just need something to blame my lack of fish catching on.

Maybe I just need something to blame my lack of fish catching on. I don't believe in them. I've gone fishing in the so called "best time to fish" and got skunked. I've also gone fishing when the tables said "stay home" and slaughtered them. I think it all depends on how the fish are reacting to the baits you are using that day. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Al Agnew Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I pay absolutely no attention to them for two reasons. One, I've never been convinced that they have any value. And two, I don't want to get on the water with those kind of preconceived notions about how the fishing is going to be. If I read the tables and they said it was going to be a poor day, I'd be starting out with niggling doubt that I was going to catch much. Since few of us can, or wish to, pick the days we go fishing, why go into the day without optimism?
T-RockJaws Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Weather patterns have much more to do with it than the "signs". You really need the weather to hold a pattern for a few days straight to get a consistant bite. Maybe not a real good bite, but at least consistant.
