Daveinozark Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 so, looking at Google earth, I see a possible parking spot. Where the Finley dumps into the James. Going down the M, taking a left on the M-140, then left on 2 rivers road there's a bridge over the Finley there. It looks as though there's a dirt path there along side the bridge. anyone know if I can park there? Randy, Joe, you there????
Members crawfly Posted July 17, 2010 Members Posted July 17, 2010 Yes, you can park there. You can walk an overgrown path on the south side of Finley to the mouth or walk either edge of water. A lot of slick limestone from the bridge until the first drop and not much in the way of fishing water until the james. You can wade a good bit of James when you get there. (downstream)

Members crawfly Posted July 17, 2010 Members Posted July 17, 2010 No problem. If you use the river wear felts if ya got 'em. It's gravel from the drop to the mouth but limestone again at the mouth upstream to the bridge and downstream to the first hole. After that smooth sailing. (gravel) Good luck!
RSBreth Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 crawfly nailed it. It used to be a slab ford on the Finley but it was replaced with a more modern bridge a few years ago. The first hole downstream after "The Fin" dumps into the James get pummeled every weekend day, so be forewarned. There's still some fish there, but it is a place that gets fished, often. Be sure not to block the gates to the hay fields (you know that anyway) and don't park too close to the bridge, but otherwise you should be good to go. Don't forget to let us know how it went, and good for you, using Google Earth to find access points and scout things out.

Ended up at Linden, which has become my favorite spot with the inflatable. Caught some large mouths of good size and small small mouths and a few sunfish. Water was too cloudy still from storms the other day though i'll try that spot next weekend maybe
