Members Fishin4Fun Posted July 18, 2010 Members Posted July 18, 2010 Hello All, I'm looking to take a full day float trip on the James with a friend and I'm looking for ideas/suggestions. I have two personal pontoon boats and I would like to find a good place to put in and take out that will take 7+ hours with lots of fishing. I'm really wanting to find where the good smallie fishing waters are, so any pointers in that would be great. Also, what are your favorite baits/jigs/cranks/spinners to use for these? As soon as the temps drop a little, I hope to get out. If you are willing to share your favorite floats and baits I would love to hear them. My friend is new to fishing and I want to find a great float that will give him a great day on the water. Thanks in advance for your help! Wheatenheimer Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Hey Fishin4Fun! Long time no read! Hootentown to Goff Creek is about 7 miles. There is some great fishing on that stretch and Hootentown Canoe Rental will shuttle your vehicle for 10 bucks. All the typical methods should work fine. Keep us posted! Kevin
Members Fishin4Fun Posted July 20, 2010 Author Members Posted July 20, 2010 Hey Kevin, Thanks for the reply! I heard that it was good below Hootentown, but wasn't real sure where to take out. I will definitely have to give that a try. I will keep you posted. I'm waiting for the temps to drop a little before I take on that adventure.
