ohmz138 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 You want your fingers wrapped around the grip with the thumb straight on the back of the grip. The thumb helps power and control. Your grip should be a "thumbs up". Here is a youtube clip of a lefty kreh movie I used when I was learning. Lefty really knows how to explain the principles of it all. Make sure you note the thumb position that he uses. Not only does it help with tailing loops but it will improve your accuracy as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ-AXvVbKkE

Thanks. There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit
Chris Barclay Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Excellent reminder. Thanks! Chris St. Louis, MOcbarclayflyrods.combreambum.blogspot.com
Members N Wolf Posted July 28, 2010 Members Posted July 28, 2010 Daddy O, a single overhand knot is the weakest knot you can tie. If you get one in your leader you need to un tie it or cut it out. If you get on a fish that stresses your leader at all it will break at that knot. In fact, if you're after big fish like carp that need a fairly small tippet for their size, I promise you that 9 out of 10 times the not will snap on the hook set. If you have worked for hours to get a shot at that fish you can guess the kind of words that will come out of your mouth when this happens.
