Got to the water Friday night about 9:15 with 4 units running and the schedule saying they would shut down to 1 unit by 10 and 0 units at midnight. I started up by #1 at a favorite spot for lots of generation and immediately landed a nice 20"er on a black and purple streamer. At 10 pm they shut all the water off, cool! When the current went slack I left to go down between #2 and #3. I didn't know it then but I walked past fly2fish with his group walking down to #1. I fished below #2 without luck and started working my way down to rebar and below the tree as the water dropped. My dad and brother-in-law showed up around 11 and they did real good at the rebar hole. I ended up with 25 fish in all and got to talk to fly2fish on my way out as his group was down that way too. He was catching some on white. When the moon got high it got real slow. I used mainly an unweighted #8 olive pine squirrel that is the most pitiful looking fly in my box. I don't say this to brag but this fly literly has all the fur bit off of the palmered area from catching so many fish. About all that is left is the tail. When I tied on a new one they wouldn't hit it. I had to watch my line real close as they seemed to be wanting to hit it and go upstream. Saturday night I met a friend that had never fly fished or wade fished but he was anxious to try it. We got there at 9 pm and the water was off and dropping. We fished at #2 and we spent time with the basics and then later moved on down toward the big hole. It was a slow night and I only managed about 6 fish and then only when the moon was behind clouds. Again it was the pitiful fly that did the job. My friend Roger loved it though and I think he's hooked. It was enjoyable to show somebody my limited knowledge and give back to somebody else what some of you have done for me. No Henry on Sat night?

Sounds like you had a very similar night fishing Saturday to what I reported. The takes were odd, nothing hard, just grab and run upstream.

From seeing all these nice fish while I'm out fishing during the day I decided to go fish this one spot where I'm seeing most of the big rainbows holding. While I was out on a trip over the weekend I spotted a few big rainbows and one brown that stood out like a sore thumb. My goal was to catch the brown since that's what I like to target, but ended up catching this beautiful rainbow on the second cast of the night. Once released I decided to call it a night. Their out there that’s for sure. Taney is in great shape for night fishing.

No Henry on Sat night?

Gary good to see you again. We were at the shelter between 9 and 10pm and it was crowded, was waiting on Leonard to meet us there. When he got there and we rigged up nad he said lets get out of here and we went down below the boat ramp. I let my son's friend Clint use my 4wt and he caught the 2 biggest fish measured at 15" and one slightly less than 16" his only 2 fish of the night. I ended up with 13 mostly on white and a couple on brown. Leonard started with brown and had several before we ever had a strike. When the moon came up it got a little tougher. I went back Sunday night after my uncle and I fished of Fall Creek dock until 1:00am and the only vehicle in the lot was at outlet 1. As soon as I got out I saw headlights coming from the path up to the parking lot, I said did the moon run you guys out and it seemed they were in a hurry to get going, they said yes and I don't think they even bothered to take their waders off. I put on the white and was wading out and stripped out some line to get started and the first cast wham, good 17incher and thought this was going to be a good send off since it was my last hour or 2 to fish. But it turned out to be the only fish I landed. I tried a couple other flies with only 3 or 4 hits and left at 3am.

I thought I heard voices from down past the ramp Sat night. Surprisingly only 1 or 2 was down past rebar except my crew so everybody must have been above #2. There was a lot of vehicles in the lot.

Wow, is that what it was??? I thought I was finally getting in tune with my inner self, world peace, the universe, and all those little lights streaking across the sky. It made me want to burn incense and chant to the fish. One of the bows I netted said "catch more bass" as I pulled my fly from his lip and another said "be afraid, be very afraid....run! it's the squid!"
