Hi all;

I'll be spending the fall living near the south end of the lake, fishing regularly in the LIR. So, hello to everyone, and if anyone wants to meet up to fish some morning, let me know.

Second, I'm trying to find a fly shop in the area. Is there anything? Or in the City (other than the obvious BPS)?

I'm hoping to learn to tie my own flies soon, but need a place to get supplies and equipment (and advice).

Thanks for any tips,

Michael

D&B Outfitters in Tulsa is the only fly shop in the area. They have a great selection of fly tying material, rods, reels, gear, etc etc. Their fly selection is kinda slim sometimes but its a cool shop. Butch is a good guy too. There used to a guy who worked in the Fly Fishing section at BPS in Broken Arrow that was a good guy to deal with too, can't think of his name to save my life. He used to guide in Colorado, cool dude, but I think BPS eliminated all their fly fishing employees...I havent seen any of the 3 guys that were working there in the past several trips I've taken to BPS.

There are also some good fly shops in Missouri and Arkansas. Tim's Fly Shop, Backcountry Outfitters, McClellans Fly Shop...etc, etc. They will have just about anything you'd want, ship it to you, and you'd more than likely have it in 1-2 days. Might save $$$ on gas by just having those guys ship to you.

Anyways...that basically sums it all up.

D&B in Tulsa is a good place. I've bought stuff from here:

and had real good luck. They're knowledgeable and will take the time to answer your questions when you call.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll probably check out D & B in the near future. I also found discountflies.com, which turned out to be a good source to stock up on flies for the time being.

See you on the river

Sadly, I believe D&B has gone under.

We went up to their shop and there were no products in the building and the lights were out.

They closed shop last year. I asked them if Bass Pro ran them out of business. They said "No, we're just tired of doing it." They were only a mile away from my office. I'm already missing them.

As has been stated, D&B is no more. Other than BPS, the Gadget Company is the only place left in Tulsa for fly fishing products, and they don't sell tying materials.

Oh okay.

I was honestly worried about BPS running them down. But I guess it wasn't. That's good to know.
