Members kayaker Posted August 18, 2010 Members Posted August 18, 2010 I have only seen one mention on the entire forum of someone using Tenkara fly fishing and that was Tim of Tim's Fly Shop on the Roaring River forum. Anyone else trying it or heard of it. You can google it or You Tube it and see what I am talking about. I think Roaring River would be perfect for Tenkara. Im thinking about getting a Tenkara rod.
timsfly Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 There are a few around, I have several customers that are using them down here at the park, I'm taking mine out west this weekend and plan on fishing it in lower utah, I know a few small creeks that I want to try it out on if I have the time, it is easy to pack, mine is only 16" long when it is retracted. What model are you using Tim? Think they can land some of the big boys you catch at Roaring River?
timsfly Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I'm using a 10' rod. It would be worthless on a fish 18" or bigger, I've landed A few over 16" but with no drag and no extra line for the trout to run with, decent fish just run out and break you off. The rods or at least the one I'm using is rated for only 4 lb line or lighter. This rod is fun on smaller trout.
