Members ARflyfisher4 Posted September 2, 2010 Members Posted September 2, 2010 is there anybody on here, who has flies that they tie for Lower Ill river in Gore, ok?? Just started fly fishing, and live in greenwood, ar. Me and my 5 yr old daughter have had a blast fishing there. But, all i have been able to get fish on, is a brown wooly booger(10). Though it has worked great, most days, was just wandering what else i could use, nymph, midge,???? not really anywhere locally, outside of Academy, that even have flies around here.
Members James Robertson Posted September 2, 2010 Members Posted September 2, 2010 The Woodsman in the mall in FT. Smith has all kinds of info and flys. They are a true fly shop; just check them out. They are the nearest fly shop I know of to Greenwood. Thanks James

DaddyO Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 If you look through the topics on the Lower Illinois river forum, you will see the list of flies that are used on that river as well as a wealth of knowledge on how to be successful fishing that river. OKFlyFisher44 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 As Phil stated...just spend a little time in the Lower Illinois River forum and you'll find plenty of fishing reports that'll give you solid info on catching trout there. I think I even posted a detailed lists of hot flies on the LIR for an angler, like yourself, who was new to fishing the LIR. DaddyO and myself frequent that river pretty often and there are tons of fishing reports posted by us alone. If you can't find a local fly shop you like...check out Big Y Fly Co. on the web. Great prices and fast shipping on flies. I buy a few odds and ends from them, mostly patterns that I have no desire to mess with trying to tie. Shoot me a message next time you're going and I'll try to meet you down there as well...show you around the different access points. Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...

Members ARflyfisher4 Posted September 7, 2010 Author Members Posted September 7, 2010 thax a bunch!! will do!! I love to fish there (LIR), it has been great @ every time i go. Although, i have nothing to compare it to. As far as fly fishing for trout, i have only been there, and the Narrows Dam in Murfreesboro, Ar. But only fished with dry flies there...
