fozzype Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 It would be my guess the rain and colder temps could have put the kabosh on the early AM whites at Moonshine. Haven't been down in a couple of weeks and have some friends coming in who don't fish often. Like to put them on a few. I don't want to waste a possible good AM topwater or jig bite on whites if they aren't there. Could somebody help me out? I really would appreciate any reports or white bass gossip Brett B. Foz
CMAC Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I think the well is dried up, but still a few boats out there as of yesterday AM.
ozarksfishin Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Brett, CMAC is right, they are not biting as well as they were about a month ago, but there are still some whites to catch there. Had a guide trip on Friday and caught at least a dozen or so by 8 AM, after that it was over. The shad are in smaller groups and the whites are scattered around. We found them on Friday closer to the point at moonshine near the main lake. OAF Contributor Phillip Stone http://ozarksfishin.com
steveearle Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 We caught 6 on Saturday and none on Sunday...I was antsy Sunday wanting to go bass fish, but we only saw 4 or 5 caught by 7:45.... The jig bite actually seems to be better after about 10:30 in the morning.... The holiday/weekend traffic was unreal...I was ready to fight at least 4 different boats on Sunday. I was approx. 80 yards off a point. Their was a no-wake bouy at about 40 and they all cut b/t me and the bank getting as close to the bouy as they could... If anyone at Moonshine saw the guy kick the rod in the water and then get it, that was me (I know Rick LaPoint saw it). Funny this was, it was a 7' MH GLX with a Revo Premier on it. I kicked it over in the diection we were floating (61 ft. of water). After thinking it was gone, my brother in law said "Hey, look!".....the GLX actually floats with that reel on it. We drifted over it and it floated up on the other side of the boat and I got it back....
fozzype Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 I actually went Monday. I decided to try a little power fishing up long creek. Does every big boat and tuber think up the creek is where to be? Had people past Cricket Creek pulling tubes. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid - Lots of pole timber near the surface. Anyway, it was my worst day since January - no fish, no bites tried everything from powering CB to DS on the main lake. The fish would no even look at spoon, DS, or anything else. The lady has a way of humbling you. B. Foz
Members crestonmoore Posted September 9, 2010 Members Posted September 9, 2010 We went out Sat AM and they were biting good at about 30 feet close to the point. Lot's of fishing being pulled in around us! We were using white and silver spoons. Sunday AM the bite was a lot slower, the whites were scattered but we caught a few. Pretty exciting though, can't wait for Spring!
