Members cculler10 Posted September 12, 2010 Members Posted September 12, 2010 Hello all, I fished yesterday (Friday) around the Mutton Creek access. I launched the boat around 7:30 and sought shade on the east side of the lake hoping to find a topwater bite for largemouth bass (LMB). I threw a spook on secondary points and caught 2 small fish and had one nice fish, probably 13-14 inches, come out of the water twice to hit the lure but i never hooked up. I then started throwing a bandit 100 crankbait on a secondary point and caught a nice 14 in. LMB. I went farther in the cove and picked up another 14 bass on a secondary point. I proceeded to hit up two more secondary points in the cove and catch bass off each point. I used a silver minnow sparkle colored bandit that goes down about 3-4 ft. I hopped across the lake mid morning and began trolling for walleye using a bass pro lazer blade on one rod and a lindy rig with a night crawler on the other. I picked up one small walleye in the south side a B7 point, trolled to the north side of B7 along the flat and picked up another small walleye on a lindy rig. I ended up catching 5 walleye total going back and forth, all small fish. I trolled in 8-15 ft with most fish coming in less than 15. I also caught a nice 4-5 lb channel cat on a crankbait trolling. After consistently catching bluegill on the lindy rig i gave in a fished for bluegill two hours, catching several good eaters. To recap, I caught several bass on a fairly shallow diving crankbait on secondary points, walleye and bluegill on night crawlers trolling in 8-15 ft, and one nice channel cat. I thought it was a good day and i missed the late afternoon bite having to be off the water by 3. Take care.

Jbrant Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 We were down last weekend and caught about 40 bass in 9 hours. Only 5 of those were keepers (including one smallmouth) and nothing bigger than 16". Nearly all of our fish came on secondary points (a couple on mainlake and a couple off a channel bank). The first creek we fished had baitfish all over it. The rest of the time we stayed closer to the dam and didn't see as many baitfish but plenty of herrons in the backs of the coves. Caught them mainly from 4-10' deep on jigs, shakey heads, and rattletraps.
