Trav Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 September and October are generally good months to catch a muskie while bass fishing in my experience. I've caught a few on everything from flipping a jig to throwing a rooster tail for whites. I catch them sometimes while mainly bass fishing as well. Most the muskies I have caught were off cranks in May and June. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Members riverrat09 Posted September 22, 2010 Author Members Posted September 22, 2010 Fall and Spring are the best times to catch muskie around here. This mainly has to do with them being in shallower water during those time of the years. As the water warms they will move deeper to find cool water since water temps near the surface are to high for them to tolerate around here in the summer. They seek out the cool water near the thermocline. While they can still be caught during the summer it is HIGHLY discouraged to fish for muskie after the water temps reach 80. Water temps this high cause a very high mortality rate on caught fish (even the ones that still swim off and look fine)
