OKFlyFisher44 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 The crew and I made another pilgrimmage down to the Current this past weekend. The weather was great minus the storms that rolled through late friday night. They only last a little over an hour luckily so it wasn't too bad in the tent. We fished hard saturday and sunday at Tan Vat and Baptist. Caught a ton of fish both days. We fished the Hopper/Dropper rig almost all weekend minus very early in the morning. HUGE trico and mayfly hatches coming off. You could find small pods of fish rising everywhere. The river was awesome as always. Can't wait to go back!!! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
flyfishmaster Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Sounds like an awesome time. Nice pics too. I hope I can get down there soon. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!

Trout Commander Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Very nice! Makes me want to get over that way and give it a shot! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

What were you dropping off of it? The pictures are awesome! Nice work. I'll be down there Saturday hunting that big brownie in the first pic!
OKFlyFisher44 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 On saturday...the hopper bite was probably 3-1. For every 3 fish on the dropper, you'd get 1 on the hopper. It was good enough to leave it on, just tons of fun to fish that way. On sunday, the hopper bite was considerably slower...more like 5-1. As far as droppers...san juan worms, eggs, scuds, and zebra midges worked all weekend. And as far as that big brown goes...heh, I know where he and a few of his friends all live Muuuhahahhaa! LOL... Good luck to you guys...the river is fishing well... More pictures to come later... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Ill Trout Bum Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Congrats on the great pics!! We also fished the river last week. Thursday afternoon we had a phenomenal time fishing in the downpours from the remnants of Hurrican Hermine. It seemed everything we threw got a great reception. Friday turned out to be really good with several rainbows and browns being taken. The best fish of the day was a fat 17" brown caught below Baptist. That afternoon we headed to Parker's Hollow and again caught several nice fish, including a couple of decent sized smallies. I can't wait to go back next month!! Scott
Murdoc Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 We had a group down Friday to Sunday also. The storm was a pain but everything else was great. We went from Cedargrove to Two Rivers. Not a lot of fish. It was my first float in 30 years so I mainly enjoyed the river and my buddies! WHAT A RIVER!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
Kyle Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I can't wait to be seeing elk on the banks of the Current!! I think that would be really neat.
flyfishmaster Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 kyle, Are you indicating that they are going to introduce elk in the area or are you wishing for it to happen? later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
