Tomorrow morning (Sat Oct 9th), a few of us are going to launch at Aunts Creek and fish the James for walleyes. It's just for fun and educational value. (I hope). Any and all of you are invited to join in. We're going to try and launch by 7:30 a.m. and fish until about 2 ish. That will be decided before launch time. If you "give" to the fruit jar and have the single, biggest walleye of the day, you win the fruit jar. That part is totally optional.

Hope to see some of you guys in the a.m. !!

I will attend. The boat is in my driveway ready to drive there in the morning. I'd like to meet some of the people who read and write posts.

I embarrassed myself. Not one walleye. Not even a short. Lots of marks on the sonar - 30 to 40 feet down. I presented trolled cranks, worms on harness, slow death, and spoons. I caught spots, crappie, catfish and a baby brown bass. I went home, tail between my legs, and sulked. The other boats did about the same. It is discouraging when the big fish pot you bet on has the money returned to everyone.

When I go to the Rock I fish exclusively for bass but I have some friends that are big walleye fans. I have a little walleye fishing experience in a couple of Canadian lakes where I have fished for the past 26 years but it is only for a week at a time. And of course the structure, current, and overall depth is so different from the Rock that it is comparing apples to oranges. But, I have caught a few walleye from time to time on the Rock with noisy crank baits. In the Canadian lake there are some "regular" spots to fish that always seem to have some walleye lurking. Are there some "regular" spots on the Rock for walleye or are they so dispersed that they are always difficult to find after the spawn? I also wonder what the relative fish populations are bass vs. walleye for the Rock. If the walleye are quite difficult to find vs. bass then the Rock could have lots and lots of walleye? Any tips from the Rock experts for my walleye fans?

Walleye are stocked annually and a very small natural spawn supplements the stocking. They lake contains many thousand specimens, but its sheer size means they are spread thinly.

Yes, there are some spots where you know fish are near by, but we were fishing an area unfamiliar to us all. The water looked good for walleye, but I'm afraid the tough bite made it impossible for us to land one.

I have no idea if or when TR will become like Bull and walleye will be considered one of the main species.

Shes a beatiful lake to me and always will be one of my favorites, since i have fished there (20 yrs) or so-not every year but as often as can be, I have gone from not hearing anything about the elusive eyes to yes there are eyes and I believe there numbers are growing fast. Thats why we hunt them eyes-because we love too-lol.

When you get board check out this Radio Flyer Wagon

wallin: Have you fished for eyes at Bull Shoals? I have never ventured to BS but if my walleye fan friends ever come down they might want to fish there. BTW, my son graduated from Purdue!

All right- Perdue is just 45 min. south of me. I came down last year the same week(first week of oct) stayed and fished Bull Shoals for a week and din't catch -sssshhhhh

lol. It was cold, raining-in the 40's for the highs and nobody on the lake but us-met 1other couple-lmao and they were from the same town as us-lol. Well its the same old story-lake was turning over and lake was dead-place we stayed totally suck and I wont mention it- but I were watering by the time we left and were sure it was from mold under the new floor in the cabin we were in-lol. But man what a beatiful Lake.Wanted to go over for a day but just to much company and the atmosphere around Table Rock is so much nicer. Yes would love to fish it again, but I also want to fish Erie some more and its only 4 hrs and my friend texted me today and is fishing there now.

Heres some pics from other friends from our Club, we have a spring get together with fishing, food and good times and give away door prizes and these were the winners of the free Erie trip-so 2 of our guys took them this past weekend and did OK.
