rps Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I plugged the boat in yesterday and this morning I was very excited to be able to be out for the first time in two weeks. By 7:10 I was saying ugly things. The crank battery was dead, dead, dead. I yanked it and drove to Missouri. I waited until the store opened and replaced it. I was at the location I wished to begin, the mouth of Rock Creek, exactly two hours later than planned. I saw two different boats of walleye fisherman I know and one fished Rock Creek with me. I marked many fish between 26 and 40 feet. Used a crawler rig and trolled cranks. Four bass, 1 keeper size, but no walleye. Motored over to Owl Creek and trolled the channel at 36 feet over the submerged tree tops. One bass pushing 4 pounds hit first. Then I connected and landed a 26 inch walleye. My friend had to leave and I motored back to the Holiday Island area but did not find another walleye. One jet ski all day.
rps Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 Rare picture with me and the fish. This was a finger pinch 26. Sadly, it equaled my best this year. I have no complaints on numbers or average size this year, but the big fish needs to improve to match previous years. For example, my profile avatar is a 27 and was the second largest of that year.
