Almost G.s.! Horn?

Great day for me at norfork, lots of rainbows, a few browns, and my first cutthroat, but could not find that brookie for a grand slam.

What happened to the horn before opening the gates!! The schedual had one gate a noon. I was heading for the bank just a couple of minutes before noon to grab some lunch and noticed the current was increasing, and let the other people in the area know. It was a very close call for one gentelman, if there had'nt been a young lady close to him for help I don't think he would have made it, he went down twice before she could grab him and help him to the bank, and she went down once in the process, I was still out helping a older gentleman to shallow water. From the time I noticed the increase in current to every one out of the water was maybe three minutes four at the most. The horn did sound at 12:20 thanks for the warning.

Thanks for the tip. I always depend on the horn, but if they're gonna be late on that...

The water on the Norfork seems to come up extremely fast compared to other tailwaters like Taneycomo and the White. That makes sounding the horn imperative. I wonder if it was a failure or if someone just messed up?

Normally they blow the horn at least 6 times b4 they start generating. I bet someone just messed up big time.

My wife and I almost got swept down the Little Missouri at Narrows Dam below Lake Greeson once when they suddenly opened both generators without blowing the horn. We were fishing at Riverside when it happened. I went looking for blood after that, and one idiot Corps employee nonchalantly told me the horn was broken, and they did not know when it would be fixed. Only self control kept me from stomping the brains and crap out of that clown. That was 30 years ago. I guess nothing has changed since then. Their negligence will get someone killed before it's over.

What I think is crap is there is no additional warning if they increase generation. Another blast (even a short one) would be nice. A few years ago I was below Table Rock during 1 unit generation, then they increased flow without warning and almost caught me off guard.

This is an excusable mess up. This could cost someone their life.
