Members markw Posted November 4, 2010 Members Posted November 4, 2010 I went by Sat to float from there but now has lots of posted no trespassing and purple paint!!Anyone know who owns that???
Buzz Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I don't know the highway name, but if it's the old wagonwheel bridge on the outskirts of Granby, I know what you are talking about. We had a run in with a guy who said he was the owner of the property. He asked if we saw the " No Trespass" sign, which we didn't because we just dropped off a truck and headed upstream to put in. Anyway he said that they were going to stop allowing people to use that spot. Too much wild activities, is what he said. I think Chief had another run in with him after that. I'm not surprised he painted it up. Unfortunately, he doesn't understand who he should be mad at and has been pushed to the point of closing it to everyone. Since he didn't bother to introduce himself, we have no idea what his name is or how to contact him to get permission to put in or take out there. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

troutfiend1985 Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Very. Well Chief I don't know what to tell you, other than what I think you already know. I would almost think talking to the prosecutors office might be of service. Ask them if they consider this to be navigable, you could just shoot them an email, let them know of your situation. You could also get this guys address and send him a letter, maybe this could spark conversation. Hell, even contact an attorney if you want and see if you could get an injunction. Takes money, but it might be worth it. Or you can wait 2 more years until I'm done with school and pass the bar, it would be free then, but again that's 2 years down the road. If this stream is anything of the size of the meramec, well. . . Well, at least you know what I think. #1 thing though is to make sure this guy isn't an idiot with a gun, even Johnny Cochran couldn't get you out of that one “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. But truthfully, this man is in the right. When putting in or taking out at this spot you actually get on his property. It is a very, very small part of his property but, none the less it is his. I have decided that even though this has been a long established put in/take out spot, there are plenty of other floats to take. Is he trying to prevent people from floating through the stream that runs in his land? Or is he telling do not access the stream from his property? “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
Chief Grey Bear Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Not to access. Which I don't have a problem with. It is 1/4 acre of land. If that. I like floating to and from there though. Now if he would have tried to stop me from floating through there or if you could legally access it from that area, I would have just laughed at him.
