Members Nathanael Posted December 2, 2010 Members Posted December 2, 2010 Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone had been fishing beaver tailwater this week at all and how the fishing is doing. Im not from right around that area so when i get the chance to make it up there we pray for the best! I was also wondering if the browns had started spawning yet or if there getting close to moving to the bottom of the dam. thanks guys and good luck!
Zack Hoyt Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The lake level is 115.37 feet and there is very little to no generation. Midge pupa patterns in gray, tan and olive are working best. Sowbug/scuds are good bets also. Don't forget your small streamers such as Woolly Buggers in olive and black. Fish seem pretty wary, so long leaders are a good idea. Lots of active browns....I understand they are on the beds currently. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Zack Hoyt Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 No problem. Be sure and post a report when you get back. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Members Nathanael Posted December 6, 2010 Author Members Posted December 6, 2010 well man we ended up doing pretty good. we started at the ramp right below the dam and only got one fish on a olive wooly bugger. we put the boat in and headed down the the artificial only and fished our favorite pool (the deep pool on the bend past the big cabin) we beached the boat and waded out. caught 8 pretty quick on a olive midge till i broke it off. switched to a egg pattern and that was it! we were hooked up on fish the rest of the morning when we all switched to egg patterns. fished till noon and took a lunch break. evening we ran to spider creek island and did ok. had alot of strikes but i was off. ended up landing 5. overall a good weekend. thanks bud
