Gallagher Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Curious to hear from those who have received and tried the reels that Justin @ Allen's Fly Fishing is offering and what your experiences are, likes, dislikes, design layout, reliability? They're great looking reels! Tnx Carry out what you carry in...
Geoff Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I have an Alpha 3/4. One of the eariler designed reels. its very nice, I like it quiet a bit. I was very surprised by it, very light, small and the quality of the build is fantastic!! Finish is a bright polished aluminum, very happy with it. Drag works well, I had some stocker trout on it couple weekends ago and it handled them just fine. I will say this though, even though the polished look is nice, I do kinda wish it was colored instead, like a dark green or burnt orange...something neat. oh i forgot to post the first time, the reel is also darn near silent, which i like VERY much. Members Jack Hollister Posted December 7, 2010 Members Posted December 7, 2010 A couple weeks back, Justin continued a post promoting the new reels and he said that the first person to pm him would receive a free reel…..I was lucky to be the first one. I haven’t received the reel yet, but I realize its only been a few weeks. I am like a kid on Christmas morning every day running out to the mail box in anticipation of its delivery. They do look like nice reels and I hope I do get the chance to receive and use one…..I did need a new reel for my St.Croix.
Gallagher Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Thanks for the replies,.. keep 'em coming! I'm considering giving one of his Alpha Series 5/6 a try, hard to go wrong with the price so long as they're reliable & trouble free. Carry out what you carry in...
Gallagher Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Didn't realize I was in the Bass Fishing forum when I posted this topic. Might have been better suited if I'd put it in the other topic forum pertaining to rods/reels/lines/leaders/waders in the Fly Fishing forum. My apologies for inadvertently posting to the wrong topic area. Carry out what you carry in...
